Ground Anchor

Definition

Any device approved by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, that is used for the purpose of securing a mobile / manufactured home to the ground in order to resist wind forces.  Ground anchors are rated by working load, which is the maximum load for design purposes. 

Function

Primarily, 4 foot anchors are used to secure a Mobile / Manufactured Home.  The most current requirements for Anchors are spacing 5 feet, 4 inches on center and a galvanized coating.  Properly installed, the Anchor Head should be 1 inch above the grade of the dirt.
